I. America Harbors Terrorists
Sincerely, I thought it ludicrous when I heard that "America harbors terrorists". I found that statement to be almost impossible, given my upbringing and education in the U.S. But also, I guess I had a certain level of moral superiority that wouldn't allow myself to believe these allegations.
Well...again I went to the source, the documents, where to my sadness (and now anger), I learned a new truth. I read a report from the United Nations, which was prepared as part of the peace settlement in El Salvador.
So, briefly, below is page 1 of the UN report, just to show you the intro, then afterwards is page 137, which points out the details of our govt. harboring terrorists.
And lastly, the entire report is laid out for you, if you wish to read and learn more.
II. Army and CIA Training Manuals
In this seminal article written by Lisa Haugaard, we learn of the manuals that were issued to Latin American soldiers trained by our government. Included are excerpts from the manuals.
To me, this article seems to elucidate the following:
- torture was taught
- torture was to be used, not only against enemy soldiers, but also against civilians, union organizers and religious groups
- which means only one thing, that our government promoted terrorism, the use of violence against innocent civilians, and this is obviously, contrary to our American democratic ideals.
III. Chile Documents
A. Classified cables from Washington, DC to Santiago, Chile
1) "submachine guns and ammo being sent..."
2) "it is a firm and continuing policy that Allende be overthrown by a coup"
B. Top secret report, Navy Section of US Military Group, Chile
1) "Our D-Day has arrived" and this report outlines our knowledge and enthusiasm for the coup

IV. Kissinger
In this section we see how Henry Kissinger knew of Indonesian plans to invade E. Timor. The hundreds of thousands of lives lost he could not predict. Today, however, Kissinger insists that he really didn't know about E. Timor, that he was too busy with other issues. I agree that Kissinger was juggling many issues but I cannot however allow him to feign complete ignorance of E. Timor.
So enclosed here is proof of Kissinger's knowledge and understanding of E. Timor, more precisely, his understanding and fear that the American public would find out that U.S. weapons were being used for the invasion which was, of course, illegal. In this "transcript of a department meeting" Kissinger scolds one of his assistants for penning a memo that expressed fears of these government supplied arms.
